The High Value Fruits-Crops Varieties Extension and Marketing Project, under the Rural Microenterprise Transformation Project (RMTP) and funded by Palli Karma Sahayok Foundation with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aims to transform the livelihoods of small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs in selected hilly regions. Its core objective is to boost income for marginal farming families, ensure food security, and enhance family nutrition. The project encourages ecological farming and small entrepreneurship in high-value crop production, providing pathways for sustainable employment and empowering farmers, particularly youth and women, to engage in resilient agricultural practices that adapt to climate challenges and promote safe, nutritious food.
This project focuses on training farmers in key areas, including financial literacy, organic crop production, and climate adaptation. Activities include setting up demonstrations for high-value crops such as coffee, cashew, and seedless lemon, conducting workshops, organizing exposure visits, and establishing a value chain committee and collection centers to support local markets. These interventions, active in Khagrachari, Rangamati, and Bandarban districts, create essential market linkages and partnerships with agricultural companies, aiming to build a sustainable sector that can increase local employment and foster a resilient agricultural economy in these hilly communities.
Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating poverty in the remote, hilly, and underserved regions of Bangladesh.
