Health Program
Health Program is the flagship program of IDF. Since 1995, we have run a healthcare program to support poor communities, offering services through static and satellite clinics, telehealth, and health camps. Our program has been supported initially by Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency). Later on, we continued the program with our own fund. Our aim is to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services to underserved communities throughout Bangladesh. The program is dedicated to improve health status of the grassroots poor by focusing on disease prevention, health education, and curative services.
The program operates through various healthcare delivery channels:
- Health Centers: We have four health centers. Located in urban areas like Chattogram, providing free consultations, medications, and essential medical tests.
- Static and Satellite Clinics: Positioned strategically in rural and remote areas, these clinics offer regular medical services and consultations with the support of trained paramedics and health workers.
- Health Camps: Include general health camps, gynecology-specific camps, blood grouping camps, and eye care camps to serve diverse medical needs in the community.
- Telemedicine Services: Launched in response to geographical barriers and further expanded during Covid-19, allowing remote consultations with IDF doctors and medical assistants.
- Specialized Services: Physiotherapy for hemophilia patients, nutritional counseling, and assessments, as well as vitamin A and Covid-19 vaccination campaigns.
The program provides multi-faceted interventions to meet health needs comprehensively:
- Curative Services: Regular clinics, health camps, and home-based care provided through satellite clinics.
- Preventive Initiatives: Health education sessions, nutrition programs, and behavior-change communication to reduce disease incidence.
- Specialized Programs: Eye care in partnership with CEITC, physiotherapy for hemophilia patients, and nutritional support, particularly targeting children and expecting mothers.
- Community-Based Approach: Local health agents are trained to assist in clinics and camps, reinforcing the accessibility and sustainability of health services in rural communities.
