Microcredit Program

IDF started its operation in 1993 through piloting the Grameen Microfinance Model in Chattogram Hill Tracts and customized the model as per local situation and needs of the local population. The first micro-credit was disbursed to the ‘group’ of poor farmers from its 1st branch Sualok branch in Bandarban Hill District.
We have gradually launched some essential products for poverty alleviation and expanded them in its project areas during the past years. The program now operates 123 branches across 21 districts, offering loans for agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and small enterprises. Serving more than 100,000 group members (99% of clients served are women); it provides training and resources to support income-generating activities. The program has earned recognition, including the ‘Best Microfinance Institution’ award in 2015 for its impact on poverty alleviation.
