Create Sustainable Solutions that enable the poor to transform their lives

“I believe that we can create a poverty-free world because poverty is not created by poor people. It has been created and sustained by the economic and social systems that we have designed for ourselves; the institutions and concepts that make up that system; the policies that we pursue.”

-Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus

ABOUT US

Join Us in The Fight for Environment

Mr. Zahirul Alam founded Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) after coming back from his UN/ILO job in December 1992. Mr. Alam took the opportunity of Grameen Trust which was just founded by Nobel Laureate Prof. Mohammad Yunus to help the replicators of Grameen Financial Model throughout the globe.

IDF started its journey through piloting Grameen Financial Model in a very remote and hilly area of Bangladesh inhabited by 13 different poor tribes with different languages and cultures. Access to this area was risky and difficult not only for remoteness and poor communication but also greatly for a conflict among the tribal group and the army. Another peculiarity of the area was that CHTs have different type of administration than the plain land. There are four types of administrations- i) civil administration, ii) traditional (through circle chief), iii) army and iv) tribal armed groups.
