The “Red Chittagong Cattle” (RCC) is the only recognized cattle breed in Bangladesh, known for its disease resistance, low feed requirements, and quality meat and milk. To enhance its conservation and contribute to poverty alleviation, IDF launched the “Preservation, Development and Expansion of ‘Red Chittagong Cattle” project in November 2014 under PKSF’s Learning and Innovation Fund.
The project initially focused on Satkania Upazila and later expanded to include additional areas, targeting 800 beneficiaries. Key activities include establishing demonstration farms, training members in RCC rearing, and providing support for breeding, fattening, medical services, and vaccinations.
