IDF, in collaboration with PKSF, has initiated a project titled “Socio-economic Development of 40 Minority Ethnic Poor Families in Lama, Bandarban” in the poverty-stricken Sarai Union of Bandarban’s Lama Upazila to address the socio-economic challenges faced by affected families due to forest fires. The project aims to enhance the income of these families through an Integrated Agricultural System and bring out 40 families of poor minority groups in Lama through short-term and long-term activities and uplift the overall socio-economic condition of the people of that area.
Key interventions include installing a solar-powered water supply system, constructing 34 sanitary latrines, installing 8 street lights, and establishing a multipurpose community center for early childhood development, education, senior care, adolescent clubs, and healthcare services. Furthermore, training sessions on Good Agricultural Practices have been conducted to improve crop yields, alongside the establishment of organic fertilizer pits and demonstration plots for various agricultural activities such as vegetable cultivation, fish farming, and poultry rearing.
