Seaweed (Shaibal) Culture, Processing and Marketing
IDF launched the “Seaweed Farming” program in 2018 with the assistance of PKSF to promote algae cultivation in coastal shallow water bodies, enhancing aquatic resource production and creating employment opportunities for the coastal poor. After a successful initial year, PKSF continued the initiative in 2019 under the ‘Innovative Agriculture Initiative.’
This three-year program specifically targets women from Cox’s Bazar and members of IDF’s loan program, providing essential training and materials such as nets and ropes. Additionally, training is offered to those involved in the production of these materials, and exhibitions are organized to showcase the program’s achievements.
