Beauty Akhter is a resident of Farida Para area of Chandgaon police station in Chittagong. She was born in a poor family in Lakshmipur. 33-year-old self-confessed beauty Akhter came to Chittagong city 12 years ago with her husband after marriage hoping to change her fortunes. Her husband’s name is Md. Khorshed and she is currently a mother of two children. Although she is now self-sufficient due to her will power and strong efforts, her condition was not good in the beginning of her family life. She was neglected in society due to poverty. Even eating or not eating, she had to spend his days in great difficulty. Beauty Akhter had to struggle to run her family on the sole income of her husband who was a day laborer. Children were not able to fulfill their education and basic needs. In addition to children’s malnutrition diseases, she herself was suffering from various diseases. Beauty Akhter informed her husband about IDF’s simple terms of loan without collateral. After consulting with her husband, she went to the 121th center of Bahadarhat branch of IDF and got admitted as a member on 23/09/2017 after knowing all the rules and regulations. Her Loanee ID is 008-121-16468. In the first phase, she took a loan of 30,000 taka. Beauty Akhter started a grocery store on a small scale with the first round of loans. She invested 40,000 taka in the grocery business, including 10,000 taka from selling goats and 30,000 taka taken from the company. Due to the good sales in the grocery store, the scope of her business gradually increased and as the demand for capital increased, she later took a loan of 60,000 taka in three installments from IDF. She expanded the business by investing the borrowed money and profit in the business. As the scope of business has increased, the capital of her shop has now increased to Rs.5,00,000.

For example, her movable and immovable assets have increased. Where earlier one meal was not enough, now she has 5 hundred acres of land, 2 cows and goats, 10 poultry, 1 bhari of gold and furniture worth Tk 1,50,000. Currently her monthly income is around 45,000 taka. Apart from being self-sufficient, Beauty Akhter has also created employment opportunities for 1 more employee in her grocery store.
