Preservation and Extension of Black Bengal Goat
Preservation and Extension of Black Bengal Goat
The Black Bengal Goat project, under PKSF’s LIFT program, began in 2013 in four upazilas of Khagrachari. The project aims to promote goat rearing, reduce mortality, and elevate families to middle-income levels through the Macha system. Farmers were introduced to Black Bengal goats, replacing Shankar goats, and received loans, training, and technical support. The project distributed 48,000 Napier grass cuttings, built a goat quarantine shed, and cultivated grass on 140 acres. IDF continues the project with its own financing, currently maintaining 54 goats on the farm.
